Quality assessment of blankets and natural hair blankets (alpaca blankets)
There are several aspects that consumers can check to better assess the quality of blankets and natural hair blankets. Natural hair blankets, or more specifically, alpaca blankets, should be lint-free under normal use. Make sure that the surface of the blanket is not fuzzing during normal use. Make sure that the surface of the blanket remains presentable, it should neither change its appearance after normal use, nor any pilling should occur when you gently brush the blanket by hand with light pressure.
The blanket should not leave a noticeably oily film on your hands when touching it, if this is the case, softeners have likely been used. Last but not least, hands off, if the blanket has a bad smell. Please take these aspects to heart, we only use very good products that will not disappoint you after purchase and, with good care, will guarantee years of pleasure and comfort.
Care and cleaning instructions – for our wool blankets and natural hair blankets
Please read these care instructions to keep your natural hair blanket long-lasting!
We recommend not to wash your natural hair blanket before use, the blankets are already washed thoroughly with natural soap during production. They are, therefore, hygienic to use from the outset. The blankets do not contain any additional preservatives, such as softeners. Our natural hair blankets are only mechanically finished and do not contain any chemical additives.
Natural hair blankets are barely susceptible to dirt, the residual grease content in the hair reduces the susceptibility to dirt. Therefore, woolen blankets and blankets made of animal hair only soil slightly or not at all.
Natural hair blankets do not smell unpleasantly even after years of use. Perspiration is neutralized by the natural chemical structure of the wool, and the blankets do not absorb unpleasant odors.
The blankets do not need to be washed, as it is usual for the cleaning of wool products, we recommend to simply hang them out for an airing in the fresh air from time to time in a sheltered place at higher humidity. This way, the pile will recover, and the hair will regenerate optimally. Thus your blanket will stay fresh for a long time and will retain its high quality without becoming matted.
Storage
If you do not use your blanket for a longer time, please store it in a plastic bag or an air-permeable polybag in a closet to protect it from moths.
Cleaning
As generally, we recommend not to wash these high-quality blankets.
Should you, however, wish to wash the blanket after a few years, please note the following instructions:
When washing the natural hair blankets, please use the wool wash cycle or wash them by hand at a low temperature. By no means should you dry your blanket in the dryer.
