Felted alpaca insoles
These insoles made of alpaca provide an optimal climate control for almost every kind of shoe. The thermo-regulating properties of the alpaca fleece guarantee a constant and comfortable temperature in the shoes. Your feet will never be too cold nor too warm. Also, they are very comfortable.
The beautiful insoles are made of 100% alpaca wool felt and are anti-slip due to a thin natural latex layer.
An optimal foot temperature is guaranteed. The insoles are antibacterial; they prevent cold feet, sweating, and even odors. The felt insoles can be worn barefoot in sneakers. The perfect alternative to fur boots! Cozy, comfortable feet with a clear conscience.
We have the soles felted very flat so that they are not bulky and can be comfortably worn in any shoe. Our alpaca felt insoles could also be worn in addition to orthopedic inserts. They are soft and cuddly. Their latex layer prevents them from moving from the lower inserts.
You can easily avoid the annoying insole change from shoe to shoe by getting several pairs of our great alpaca felt insoles. Convince yourself – you will no longer want to go without your Abolengo insoles made from alpaca felt. For the felt inlays, we are processing the wool derived from the alpacas' legs, which is commonly less carefully separated and sorted by color. Thus it may occur that, for instance, grey and fawn tones, or beige and black, are mixed. The outcome is a beautiful slight marbling.
Abolengo alpaca felted insoles are available in all sizes, from EU 21 to 47 (UK kids 5-13.5; UK unisex 0-12.5/ US kids 5.5-13.5; US unisex 0.5-13). A pleasure for young and old alike.
The tertiary quality, wool derived from the alpacas' legs and necks, is washed and dried in the same manner as the other qualities, separately, of course. After that, it is felted into the so-called needle felt by our subcontracted wage workers. The resulting rolls are of 120 cm (47.2") width and about 1 cm (0.4") thick. Those are made into foot insoles, luckily in our neighborhood nearby. Later on, they are treated with a few drops of natural rubber on the underside. This process is called latexing. This ensures that the sole is anti-slip and stays in the correct position within the shoe. Since we do not separate the tertiary alpaca quality for each animal, all of the material is washed together, then dried and felted. In doing so, fascinating interplays of colors are created. Just imagine, white, brown, beige, grey, and black shades – there are 22 official colors of alpacas – coming together. White and champagne tones disappear, and you will not recognize them after felting. Hence, it is not in our power to provide brown, black, or light brown colored soles. But one thing is sure: the outcome is always a nice mixture. Once a year, some of our former alpaca customers come back to have their alpacas shorn. Most of them leave behind at least the 3rd quality, which we, of course, also have felt.
Our regional solidarity is securing small businesses that are among our suppliers. We do have a partner-like contact with our suppliers that produce our Abolengo collection for us on a contract basis. The local value creation, therefore, has a positive influence on the preservation of small industries in Germany.
For us, fairness and social responsibility in this context are also implemented through the production within sheltered workshops or other social projects. The production is carried out at fair wages and offers a perspective to the employees. Made in Germany.

After shearing, we classify the high-quality fleece.
